Critical Resistance seeks to build an international movement to end the Prison Industrial Complex by challenging the belief that caging and controlling people makes us safe. We believe that basic necessities such as food, shelter, and freedom are what really make our communities secure. As such, our work is part of global struggles against inequality and powerlessness. The success of the movement requires that it reflect communities most affected by the PIC. Because we seek to abolish the PIC, we cannot support any work that extends its life or scope.
A total of $8,000 was donated to Critical Resistance from Shoe Palace in partnership with Colin Kaepernick’s Air Force 1 profits, which contributed to the following:

- $1,000 - Meetings & Events, Food for campaign planning meetings, membership and volunteer political education, and community events

Oscar-nominated director, writer, and activist Ava DuVernay believes that all people deserve to see their experiences reflected on screen with authenticity. In 2017, DuVernay launched the ARRAY Alliance to establish a creative home for artists, activists, and audiences to come together to create and experience pop culture stories that advance social change. ARRAY Alliance amplifies stories of underrepresented communities by providing women filmmakers and people of color with the resources they need to ensure their diverse perspectives have a platform, while also cultivating audiences among communities starved of inclusive images on screen. Over the next year, ARRAY Alliance will develop inclusive film and television workforce pipelines by:
- Conducting a research and design process to prototype a database for below-the-line crew of color in entertainment;
- Developing and piloting a year-long cinema literacy and artist leadership curricula for teens and college students of color entering the entertainment industry.
The money will directly benefit the ARRAY Grants program which will directly support the overall mission of ARRAY Alliance: to amplify the work of underrepresented filmmakers, provide a platform for their films, and cultivate highly engaged and enthused audiences who are hungry for new, more reflective images. Our goal is to assist festivals and screening programs that nurture emerging and established underrepresented filmmakers. Through unrestricted grants, ARRAY Alliance will support the innovative work of these presenters and offer focused resources in marketing, programming and raising additional assets. ARRAY Grants can be used toward any purpose relevant to producing a film festival or screening series and may consist of a single event or an event taking place over a period of time. Priority will be given to festivals and screening programs run by women and people of color, although not exclusively if programming is designed to highlight underrepresented filmmakers.
We consider programs that seek to: Nurture theatrical motion pictures in all categories and genres, including silent, ethnic, short, documentary, animated, music video, and experimental films. The donation will be used to give away 8 grants to support 8 filmmakers.
- $1000 x 8 - ARRAY Alliance will give away eight, one thousand dollar grants (8x - $1000) to students that align with our mission that need specific funding to help complete their films.

100 Suits for 100 Men was founded in 2011 by Mr. Kevin Livingston that wanted to create a program to address the needs of underprivileged men and women in need of business attire in the New York City area. In 2015, we obtained our 501 (c)(3) non-profit status. Our core service is to provide free business attire to men and women who are in the job search process. By being able to wear appropriate attire to their interviews, these men and women are better equipped to achieve gainful employment, which will ultimately help them to transition into mainstream society and live more productive lives. Through this program, we also provide free haircuts for men and where needed, wig/salon referrals for women.
The 100 Suits for 100 Men mission is:
“The mission of 100 Suits for 100 Men is to help underprivileged men and women improve their role in society, build dignity and self-esteem, foster self-sufficiency, dispel stereotypes, and promote community involvement in order to build each other up.”
A total of $8,000 was donated to 100 SUITS from Shoe Palace in partnership with Colin Kaepernick’s Air Force 1 profits, which contributed to the following:
- $2,000 will go towards the 100 SUITS boutique
- $3,000 will go towards the 100 SUITS re-entry efforts
- $500 will go towards outreach 100 SUITS efforts for our male diper bank program
- $500 Marketing materials
- $2,000 will go towards a used vehicle for deliveries.

The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.
Founded in 1989 by Bryan Stevenson, a widely acclaimed public interest lawyer and bestselling author of Just Mercy, EJI is a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides legal representation to people who have been illegally convicted, unfairly sentenced, or abused in state jails and prisons. EJI challenges the death penalty and excessive punishment, and provides re-entry assistance to formerly incarcerated people. EJI works with communities that have been marginalized by poverty and discouraged by unequal treatment. EJI is committed to changing the narrative about race in America.
A total of $8,000 was donated to EJI from Shoe Palace in partnership with Colin Kaepernick’s Air Force 1 profits.
The $8,000 will help fund the Equal Justice Initiative's Community Remembrance work. EJI has worked with community groups in over 20 states to honor African American lynching victims by organizing soil collections, installing lynching markers, giving scholarships to high school students who write essays about America's history of racial inequality, and creating other opportunities for communities to acknowledge the horrors of racial injustice throughout the country.

- $5,000 - In support of student scholarships which are awarded to high school essay contest winners in conjunction with marker dedications.
Community Coalition works to help transform the social and economic conditions in South LA that foster addiction, crime, violence and poverty by building a community institution that involves thousands in creating, influencing and changing public policy.
2020 NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM: As CoCo builds momentum towards establishing Center for Community Organizing, the organization is piloting essential programming to refine and test its hallmark legacy of cultivating people of color leadership. This year CoCo will pilot a 3-week national fellowship program for 15 young people ages 20-30 across the Country. The fellowship will be built around a curriculum that combines movement history and theory of social change with the art and science of organizing, strategic analysis, and policy advocacy. Individuals will learn, hands-on, to build relationships and mobilize people to develop a shared analysis around solutions to community challenges using CoCo’s most dynamic neighborhood, youth, and electoral organizing campaigns as examples. Participants will explore deep neighborhood organizing that produces grassroots leadership, in addition to large mass-based organizing that produces the scale necessary to win policy and electoral campaigns. Helping to address the lack of investment in communities of color through cross-city solidarity work will be critical to building a deep bench of people of color leaders and local power nationally. Therefore, we will prioritize partnerships and outreach for the national fellowship program in majority people of color cities/areas such as Jackson, Mississippi; Detroit, Michigan; the Southwest, etc. Your investment would directly support this essential fellowship program.

Communities United for Police Reform (CPR) is an unprecedented campaign to end discriminatory policing practices in New York, bringing together a movement of community members, lawyers, researchers and activists to work for change. The partners in this campaign come from all 5 boroughs, from all walks of life and represent many of those most unfairly targeted by the NYPD. This groundbreaking campaign is fighting for reforms that will promote community safety while ensuring that the NYPD protects and serves all New Yorkers. We are a movement that is here to stay – a campaign that will be a visible, lasting presence on the streets of neighborhoods citywide. We will be in communities and on the streets, educating people about their rights; and in the courts and on the steps of City Hall and the state capitol, demanding change to the NYPD -- until these policies end.
A total of $8,000 was donated to Communities United for Police Reform from Jimmy Jazz in partnership with Colin Kaepernick’s Air Force 1 profits, which contributed to the following:- $3,235 - Computer replacements - Includes 5 desktops, and related hardware/software. Our current computers are not able to run efficiently with the required upcoming Windows upgrade.
- $1,000 - IT consultant to manage computer replacements and related installations ($1,000)
- $3,037 - Director of Operations - Portion of time/benefits for this staff position, who oversees CPR administration, operations and certain programmatic initiatives
- $728 - Fiscal sponsor fee
Over the course of this next year, specific areas of work that CPR will undertake - supported by the above -- include:
- Advance & monitor policies that reduce abusive and discriminatory policing.
- Conduct community education and organizing to reduce harms caused by abusive policing, hold police accountable for harms, and reduce exclusive reliance on policing for public safety.
- Increase public support to secure and sustain policy and organizing wins.
- Strengthen CPR's coordination infrastructure

The National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) is a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and same gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS. NBJC’s mission is to end racism, homophobia, and LGBTQ/SGL bias and stigma. As America’s leading national Black LGBTQ/SGL civil rights organization focused on federal public policy, NBJC has accepted the charge to lead Black families in strengthening the bonds and bridging the gaps between the movements for racial justice and LGBTQ/SGL equality.
The investment will be used to support NBJC's Thriving Summits: Thrive is a national campaign led by the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) to celebrate students (high school and college) and their expertise while solving persistent problems impacting students, schools, and communities. Thriving Summits are community forums where students make recommendations about the best ways that caring and concerned adults can support their learning and development while adults are supported in shifting policy and practice to respond to the recommendations that students make. Thriving Summits build the capacity of student leaders, specifically racial/ethnic and sexual minority students, by exposing them to programs and practices that can improve their lives holistically. Thriving Summits also leverage partnerships with individuals and institutions to ensure that students who are traditionally under-supported have access to the learning and development opportunities needed to overcome poverty and enjoy sustained economic opportunity.
